Albert Head To Witty's Lagoon

We definitely lucked out with the weather, again.  After two days of winds the forecast was for light winds for part of the day.  There was some swell as we launched.

As we followed the shoreline towards Albert Head we noticed that the wharf there had been removed.  Someone said they had heard that the government was considering selling the land.  Maybe for "low cost" housing?

As we rounded Albert Head the sea condition became fairly choppy.  But not as choppy as they would become later in the day.  As we got to the south side of Albert Head the seas calmed to just some swells.

There was some surf at Witty's but not as much as we expected.  Most paddlers managed to get one ride.  The tides made it possible for us to paddle in to the lagoon so we took advantage to take a look at Sitting Lady Falls.  With the rain we had been having the falls were roaring.  You could hear them long before you could see them.

Lunch was on the outside of the lagoon.  While we were eating the wind started to pick up.  From Witty's we basically followed the same route back.  Approaching Albert Head the swells start to increase so we knew that we would have an interesting paddle along the east shore line.  At one point Heather was on the top of a swell and looked to be about 3 to 4' above me.  At another point Jane was pick up by a swell and was paddling parallel to it.  I missed some great images but I wasn't prepared to go swimming for the shot.

There was some light/moderate  surf when we got back to the launch so we got to practice surf landings.  Everyone managed to land without getting dumped.

As usual another great day on the water.  The conditions were a little more exciting than we've had for some time.
